6th/7th & 8th Grade Intramural Sports

6th & 7th Intramural sports and 8th grade Intramural sports

To sign up for 6th/7th or 8th Grade Intramural Sports please come to Mrs. Steidle's room (212 or 213) during your lunch, when we announce that teams are forming.

Teams can consist of any combination of 6th and 7th or 8th grade boys/girls and teachers.   Games will be played every  Tuesday, and Wednesday during your lunch.    Students are not allowed to wear cleats for any sport.

INTRAMURAL SCHEDULE

 

AUG/SEPT           PING-PONG 

OCT/NOV             KICKBALL - up to 10 fielders

DEC/JAN              BASKETBALL – 3-on-3

MARCH                VOLLEYBALL - up to 6-on-6

BASKETBALL RULES

1. 3 on 3 basketball teams can consist of up to 6 players. 

2. All games are played on a half court.  Players must take the ball back to the top of the key after each change of possession.

3. You must check the ball up top, then pass the ball in after every dead ball.  Also, the half court line is not out of bounce.

4. The visiting team (the team listed first on the schedule) will get the ball first. 

5. Games will start 10 minutes into lunch, and end when the bell rings.  Regular season games can end in a tie.  If any player purposely delays the progress of a game, their team will be credited with a loss.

6. PLAYOFFS will:

  • Start the week of the month
  • Consist of the top 8 teams (April Tournament may consist of 16 teams)
  • Single elimination
  • Winner will receive T-shirts provided by ASB

 

DODGEBALL RULES 

  1. 5 Players play at a time, each team can have 1 alternate
  2. No heads shots.  If you hit someone in the head, you are out.
  3. If you cross the center line, you are out.
  4. If you throw a ball after you are out, the opposing team can remove any additional player from your team.
  5. If you are holding a ball, and the opposing team hits you or THE BALL that you are holding, you are out.
  6. As with every Intramural Sport at NHMS, if you argue with the referee or bully anyone, you will be removed from the sport for the remainder of the month.
  7. Players are not allowed to squeeze, rip, dig finger nails, step on, or alter the dodgeball in anyway.  Players that attempt to alter the ball will be immediately removed from the game.
  8. There are two sets of games each day.  The first game starts at 12:30, the very beginning of lunch.  The second set of games starts at 12:45, half way through lunch.  Regular season games can end in a tie.  If any player purposely delays the progress of a game, their team will be credited with a loss.
  9. As with all Intramural Sports at NHMS, PLAYOFFS will:
  • Start the last week of the month
  • Consist of the top 8 teams
  • Single elimination
  • Winner will receive T-shirts provided by ASB

 

Football Rules

  1. 5 Players play at a time, each team can have 1 alternate
  2. 1 Hand Touch - if you touch someone with 2 hands it is an automatic 1st Down.  Also, if the person you touch falls down, it is an automatic 1st Down.
  3. Any penalty on the defense will result in a 1st Down.  Any penalty on the offense will result in a loss of down.
  4. NO BLOCKING.
  5. No fumbles.  Ball is dead once it hits the ground.
  6. You have 4 downs to score, or turn the ball over on downs.  No punting or field goals.
  7. You can have 1 player rush the QB and count 6 Mississippi.  On each drive you can have 1 blitz.  You must yell blitz if you are going to blitz.
  8. QB can not run, unless the defense calls blitz.
  9. If the ball carrier's knee, elbow, or bottom touches the ground, the play if over.
  10. Games will start 10 minutes into lunch, and end when the bell rings.  Regular season games can end in a tie.  If any player purposely delays the progress of a game, their team will be credited with a loss.
  11. As with all Intramural Sports at NHMS, PLAYOFFS will:
  • Start during the last week of the month
  • Consist of the top 8 teams
  • Single elimination
  • Winner will receive T-shirts provided by ASB

 

Soccer Rules

  1. No tripping, kicking, slide tackling, or pushing.  No cleats.
  2. No more than 5 players per team (including the goalie) can be on the field at a time.  Each team can have 1 alternate, totally 6 team members.
  3. To score a goal, you must kick the ball between the cones, no higher than the cones, and both cones must remain standing after the ball passes the cones.
  4. The team with the most points, when the bell rings, wins.  If the game is tied, the game ends as a tie.
  5. As with all Intramural Sports at NHMS, games will be played on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
  6. Check the door on room P20 for a complete schedule
  7. Games will begin to later than 10 minutes after the start of lunch.  If you show up late, your team is disqualified.
  8. As with all Intramural Sports at NHMS, PLAYOFFS will:
  • Start during the last week of the month
  • Consist of the top 8 teams
  • Single elimination
  • Winner will receive T-shirts provided by ASB

 

Volleyball Rules

  1. You can play between 4 and 6 players at a time.
  2. You can hit the ball a maximum of 3 times.  Standard volleyball rules.
  3. If a player touches the net at anytime, the other team wins the point.
  4. You are not allowed to block the serve.
  5. Each game will go up to 25, with rally scoring, which means there is a point scored on every serve.
  6. You must win by 2 points.
  7. Switch sides when 1 team gets to 10 and 20 points.
  8. A game will end at 25 or when the bell rings.
  9. If the bell rings, and a game is not complete, the team with the most points will get the win.
  10. Games start 10 minutes into lunch and end when the bell rings or when a team reaches 25 points.
  11. As with all Intramural Sports at NHMS, PLAYOFFS will:
  • Start during the last week of the month
  • Consist of the top 8 teams
  • Single elimination
  • Winner will receive T-shirts provided by ASB

 

Ping-Pong Rules

 

  1. All games are played 1 vs 1.
  2. Rotate serves every 5 points.
  3. If you win, you move up 1 table.  If you lose, you move down one table.
  4. When entering the games, you start on table 4.
  5. If you lose on table 5, you return to table 1.
  6. If you lose on table 1, you are out for the remainder of the day.
  7. If you lose or damage any equipment (balls, paddles, table, etc.), you out for the remainder of the day.
  8. Top 4 players at each grade level will be compete against Marco.  
  9. Winner at each grade level will receive a T-shirt.

 

 

Softball Rules

1. Teams can have up to 10 players on the field.

2. Every player on the team must hit.

4. You can not throw the ball at the base runner.

5. Once you throw the ball back to the pitcher, base runners can not advance.

6. Teams will pitch to their own players.  You will only receive 3 pitches.  If after 3 pitches the ball is not put in play and goes past the pitcher (no bunting), the batter is out.  Furthermore, if you hit your own pitcher with the batted ball, you are out.

7. If a team scores 5 runs in a single inning, the inning is over and the other team is up to bat.  

8. Games will start 10 minutes into lunch, and end when the bell rings.  Regular season games can end in a tie.  If any player purposely delays the progress of a game, their team will be credited with a loss.

9. If a player hits the ball over a fence and into non-school property, their team will be credited with a loss.

10.  As with all Intramural Sports at NHMS, PLAYOFFS will:

  • Start during the last week of the month
  • Consist of the top 8 teams
  • Single elimination
  • Winner will receive T-shirts provided by ASB

 

Kickball Rules

1. Teams can have up to 10 players on the field.

2. Every player on the team must kick.

3. If a player kicks out of order, the player is out.

4. You can NOT throw the ball at the base runner.

5. Once you throw the ball back to the pitcher, base runners can not advance. 

6. Teams will pitch to their own players.  You will only receive 3 pitches.  If after 3 pitches the ball is not put in play and goes past the pitcher (no bunting), the batter is out.  Furthermore, if you hit your own pitcher with the kicked ball, you are out.

7. If a team scores 5 runs in a single inning, the inning is over and the other team is up to bat.  In the playoffs, this rule will change to 10 runs per inning.
