A MESSAGE FROM FOOD AND NUTRITION SERVICES

As the school year comes to a close, outstanding balances owed to the cafeterias need to be cleared.  Each Friday, parents receive an automated phone call and email from Food Services to inform them of their students’ negative balances.  These balances can be paid at the school cafeteria or through the online site at

https://eps.mvpbanking.com/cgi-bin/efs/login.pl?access=55107.

Outstanding balances could result in the withholding of diplomas, grades and/or class schedules for next year.  Questions regarding a student’s outstanding balance can be directed to Food and Nutrition at 949-234-9506.

JAYWALKING ON COLINAS AND OTHER TRAFFIC DANGER

We have recently received new reports of students jaywalking or stepping into the street up on Paseo de Colinas.  This is extremely dangerous behavior because of high traffic traveling at quick speeds.  We also have had problems with students walking in or crossing Paseo Escuela as they are leaving school.  This is also very dangerous because of the number of cars on Escuela after the school day.  There is NO SAFE AREA of Escuela for students to walk in EXCEPT at the crosswalk at Golden Lantern.  Finally, we occasionally get reports of students stepping into or crossing Golden Lantern, either up the hill or down the hill from the crosswalks.  This is EXTREMELY dangerous, as cars are traveling at a VERY high rate of speed on Golden Lantern.

Please speak to your kids about obeying traffic laws and using the crosswalk when crossing Colinas, Escuela and Golden Lantern.  Help keep them safe!!

NEIGHBORHOOD TRAFFIC

Every day the neighborhoods surrounding Niguel Hills are impacted by heavy traffic from parents dropping off and picking up their children.   It’s been reported to us that drivers are making illegal u-turns, blocking driveways and entrances to cul-de-sacs, allowing kids to cross at areas without a crosswalk, and even directing foul language or gestures at residents.   If you are dropping off or picking up your child before/after school, please be respectful of our neighbors.

Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.
